Software life cycle--C++

The major steps in making a program are:

1) Requirements and Specification:
Get the requirement from users,
write down the specification what the program is going to do.

2. Code design:
Design class, algorithms, module specifications, file format and
data structure.

3. Coding
Write the code. The comment should include Heading, Author, Purpose, Usage, References, File Formats,  Revision history, Copyright. Think about the naming style in the code for consistency.
Think about code format, normally indent one level fro each new block or conditional.  Remember the clarity and simplicity of the code.

4. Debugging and Testing
The programmer should design a test plan. Having someone else to test the program will be a good idea.

5.  Release
The program is packaged, documented and released.

6. Maintenance, revising and updating
After upgrading the OS and new libraries, the program need to be updated too.
