Submit a form in jQuery



Below is the example code to submit a form in jQuery:
  <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.js"></script>
<form id="myForm"  method="post" action="#">
    Name: <input type="text" name="username"   />
    Comment: <textarea name="comment"></textarea>
    <input type="submit" value="Submit Comment" />
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#myForm').submit(function() {
    alert($('input:text[name=username]').val());
  return false;
})
</script>


The form id is myForm. To submit a form, the jQuery  method $('#myForm').submit(function() {}) is used. To access the form data username in input text: $('input:text[name=username]').val()
